Weekend Wrap Up

I will be the first to admit I'm not the best when it comes to following directions when washing clothes.  If the tag says dryclean only, I'll put it in the machine.  If it says handwash, I throw it on in the machine.  I wash reds, blues, greens and yellows together.  But I am good at one thing, and that is checking everything I put in to make sure it's really supposed to be there.  I washed a load earlier today, an assorted mixture of Ryder's things and mine and John Michaels.  When I heard the washer complete it's last cycle, I opened the lid, only to find little clear squishy beads covering, and I mean covering, every single article of clothing.  I stood there in horror, my wheels spinning, trying to figure out what I could have done wrong.  I began unloading so that I could find the culprit before JM walked in.  Meanwhile, I'm trying to think of a way this could have been his fault (ha).  When I picked up one of the tshirts, it was as heavy as a brick.  I untwisted it and sure enough, there was a fully loaded diaper, beads squooshing out every which way.  I washed a freaking diaper.  It's bad enough when Ryder's diaper gets just a little too full, and a few beads can be found on his stomach, but not all over the washing machine.  I threw everything in the dryer (except the culprit) and hoped for the best.  Thank you Jesus, not a single thing was ruined.  I have no idea where all the little beads went, and quite frankly I don't care, because all our clothes were good as new.  I have one regret about this whole experience.  Many times if Ryder has a really heavy pee diaper, I'll bring it to JM so he can feel how heavy it is.  I could have really pulled one on him this time!

We had a nice family outing yesterday.  First we hit Chick-Fil-A for breakfast where Ryder tried some big boy strawberrys and he also got a little bite of biscuit!  He's starting to play this lovely new game where I'll feed him his jar babyfood and he spits it out so far it smacks me in the face.  He thinks this is funny for some reason...  I've come to the conclusion that he is ready for more solid food and confirmed this thinking when I looked over to the next booth find what had to have been a 6 month old sucking down hashbrowns.  Once we finished breakfast, we went next door to Walmart to get some baby necessities, including yogurt melts, he loves these!  Next, we went to Bass Pro Shops so JM could use his Father's Day gift card.  I stayed in the car with Ryder since he was sleeping.  I promised JM it wouldn't hurt my feelings too bad if I couldn't join him inside (thank you Ryder).  After that we went to Babies R Us to get another carseat.  We decided to get the same one we have in JM's car, especially when we saw it was on sale $30 off, which would make it $129.  When the sales clerk came over to help us retrieve it, he explained that the floor model was the last one in stock, but that we could still have it.  When he wheeled it up to the cash register, I kindly asked him if it had a box in case it didn't work out and we needed to return it.  He said no.  So I asked if we would be getting a discount since it was the floor model (annoying, I know).  He mumbled something and walked away.  I was prepared to pay the full $129, no problem.  But he came back and smacked a sticker onto it that said $109.  I was ecstatic!  Then, I told the girl ringing us up that I didn't have my 20% off coupon that rewards members get, but asked if she could type it in the computer so that I could use the one they had at the desk, fully expecting her to say no since it was already marked down so much.  She called one of the managers over to help her out, and I don't know what went on after that, but what I do know is we walked out of there with a $70 carseat, worth $159.  SCORE!  On with our day, we went to Target so I could get a new bathing suit and some water shoes for our Texas trip, and JM bought Ryder a little football, which luckily kept him occupied in the cart.  We ended the day with a quick dinner at Margarita's and all hit the sack.  It was a great day and I was so proud of Ryder, he was a perfect angel all day long!  I love him soooooooo much!

However, I must end this great weekend on a sad note.  You know how they say if it's too good to be true, it probably is?  Well, this afternoon JM installed the carseat and we found that a part was broken.  Bummer.

--------

This is typical breakfast, lunch and dinner time at our house.  Feeding Ryder in his highchair, and Peanut at his fingertips waiting on any droplets to fall that he may get to scarf down.

If I can't find Ryder, I know where to look.  This is his new hangout.  Maybe we should let him out more often?  And change his diaper too... yikes.

Ryder is a huge fan of bath time, so we earned major brownie points when we surprised him with his new bath toy.
