Our New Pet(s)

We had a jam packed weekend.  It seems like we did 100 things.  Thursday, Kayla came over with this little four wheeler.  If you don't have one of these for your little boys, go get one.  You push the power button with your thumb and off you go.  Ryder was grinning ear to ear driving this all over the driveway.

Thursday night a few friends and us went to Birmingham for a Ryan Bingham show.

Friday, John Michael worked on getting our little fish pond in the back yard running again.  Ryder wanted to help.

Saturday morning we went to the children's festival in Fondren.  Ryder got a balloon and before we could walk away he dragged it on the grass and it popped.  I screamed.  I do not like it when something is loud and it scares me.

John Michael was by far the oldest one going down this slide.  But how can you say no to Ryder?

We played bean bag toss

And some sort of duckie game.  Ryder was screaming DUCK DUCK DUCK

Then JM got conned into going down another kids only slide.  When they got to the top this little girl was too scared to go down by herself.  JM to the rescue.

Next stop, Keiffers.

On our way home, we stopped by Papa and Becca's house and went to the park to swing and slide.

During our drive home, we were in a deep conversation and kept hearing Ryder say "Bob, Bob, Bob", but just figured he was talking to the tv screen because he was watching Bob the Builder in the back seat.  We didn't even bother turning around because he always says Bob while watching it.  Then it turned into BOBBBB BOBBBBBBBB so JM looked in the rear view mirror...

Saturday night we went to Brooke's wedding shower.  Ryder helped open.

As you could see, Saturday was a long day.  So Sunday Ryder didn't wake up until 8:00, and based on the picture below, you can see he wasn't too thrilled with being woken up for church.

His cheerio's cheered him up.  He's all of a sudden obsessed with cheerio's.  Or Chee-O's.  CHEE-O, CHEE-O!!!!!!

Continuing our day on Sunday, we stopped at Belk so I could get a shower gift.  We forgot our stroller.

Next stop was PetSmart.  The pond clean-out was a success, and we are now the proud parents of seven new goldfish. Ryder is loving his new pet FEEESH, FEEEEEESH.

It was a loooooooooong weekend.  But a FUN one!

A few happenings

Ryder wanted to tell Miss Meg something for her St. Paddy's birthday...

Not sure where Ryder learned this, but he will walk up to floor length mirrors and point and himself in the mirror and say "Ryder" (in the best way he can).  And then I will say "Give Ryder a kiss" and he gives himself a kiss in the mirror.

Then he turns around proud as punch!

Ryder's not going to get pinched... he's got green glasses

The Ketchum clan came to visit us.  Ryder had a ball with Roe and Rhett

And Reese! (and the fourth one, Rip, is on the way!)

Reese is 3 years older than Ryder... I'm pretty sure he weighs more.

Reese figured that out too, she said, "Hey Ryder, why don't you just sit by me."
"Miiiiiiiiiiiiilllllk"

Well, we ventured out to the St. Paddy's parade this year.  It's not quite my cup of tea anymore, but it's great to see friends nonetheless.

We have had a sick little boy, yet again.  Took Ryder to the doctor Monday and he was running 104.1 fever.  He has a really bad ear infection again and they gave him a rocephin shot and prescribed him to some Tylenol with codeine.  Well that worked for a good eight hours until he woke up at 2 a.m. the next morning running 103.6 fever.  We went back to the doctor Tuesday, got another rocephin shot and praise the Lord they decided it was time for tubes.  He has been one pitiful little baby, breaks my heart into a million pieces seeing him like this.  And on top of it all, his canine teeth are coming in, and from what I hear, it's painful!

The nurse warned me that the rocephin might get Ryder a little amped up.  She was correct.  He was out of my sight for one minute and I walk into my bedroom to find our kitchen garbage can (full of trash) in our bedroom.  Next to our trash can was a clothes basket chock full of nicely folded clean clothes that were waiting to be put up.  Ryder took it upon himself to empty the clothes basket one article at a time and throw it into the dirty garbage can.  And vice versa.  Back and forth, garbage can, clothes basket, garbage can, clothes basket.  I didn't even stop him.  It was just so nice to see him up and moving.

Wait!!!  One more piece!

Nicely done, son.

Rocephin started to wear off

Having a FIT

Just pitiful

"Mama, I ran out of my stuff that makes me sleepy, gimmie more!!"
(Tylenol with codeine)  Mmm mmm, good to the last drop.

And even though my little monkey is sick sick sick, he has started saying a couple words at a time.  Over the past few days he's said things like, "no juice", "no milk", "no grapes", "mama home", "daddy work".  When I picked him from my mom's the other day from her keeping him since he couldn't go to school, we were leaving and he said "CC home, poppy work".  When he teeth were hurting he would put his hand in his mouth and say "teef huuuut".  He says a ton of one worded things, but it's cute now hearing him put a few together.  Love love love love love love love love HIM!!!

Redneck Weekend

This weekend...

We used our recycle bins as lawn chairs.

We used our cooler as a wagon.

We used scraps in our garage to build a table for our crawfish.

And we cut a nice circle to fit our "Crawfish Catcher"

Which was also used to contain Ryder while we all ate (just kidding)

Becca and Papa came over to play with Ryder

Ryder loved wearing his Papa's Florida hat

Later, Grandaddy, Nanni and T came over to join in on the fun.

Ryder's friend, Gaines, came to play too!

He did not appreciate me taking him away from his tool shed to snap a picture with dear ol' mom.

After too much fun in the sun, it was time for T and Ryder to rest.

And he decided he wanted to spend the night with CC and Poppy, so he got lots of grandparent love this Redneck weekend.

Rewind to last week.  I took Ryder to the doctor Friday afternoon.  It's pretty much determined he has asthma.  They can't fully diagnose him for 6 more months, when he turns two.  But signs are pointing YES.  He gets out of breath really easily while playing and he rattles with each breath.  For now, we are just doing stronger breathing treatments twice a day, every day for about 6 months and then re-evaluating.  Please say prayers that this doesn't get worse or turn into something more serious.  And also that he doesn't fight us while trying to give him the breathing treatments.  It can be difficult to keep him in place to do them without getting made and trying to break away.  He did, however, enjoy his sucker at the doctor's office!
